Let's Talk About Our HOA (Because This Isn't Working)

The board recently stated that if residents are not attending meetings or volunteering, their concerns are essentially "just talk."

Let's be real for a moment. Most people have jobs, families, and other responsibilities. Not being able to attend a monthly meeting should not mean you lose your voice in your own neighborhood.

The bigger issue is what's actually happening in the community. Meeting minutes have not been consistently shared, leaving residents unsure of what decisions are being made. Snow removal this winter was clearly inadequate. Landscaping across the neighborhood has declined, with overgrowth and weeds becoming more common. The pool even ran continuously until residents stepped in and reported it.

These are not minor complaints. They are visible, ongoing problems that affect everyone who lives here.

What's more concerning is how the conversation was handled. Instead of focusing on these issues, the discussion shifted toward who was posting, where they live, and whether they volunteer enough. That does not address the concerns. It avoids them.

If the only way to be heard is to attend meetings or volunteer time, that is not engagement. That is gatekeeping.

At some point, it is fair to ask a difficult question. Is this board still the right group to represent and serve this community? Transparency has been inconsistent. Accountability feels lacking. Legitimate concerns are being dismissed instead of addressed.

This should not be controversial. Residents deserve to be heard. Communication should be consistent. Problems should be acknowledged, not minimized.

If the goal is a better neighborhood, then listening cannot be optional.
